The music for this song came about pretty quickly. I was working at Giant Studios in Toronto, a space I shared with the band Metric. They had been working on new material and had a beautiful black grand piano set up in the middle of the live room. After I'd recorded the basic tracks, I invited Nick over to write a bass part. He played around for a while and then hit it out of the park with this one. The lyrics poured out pretty quickly too. This was in my pre-athiestic period when I was still exploring religious and metaphysical ideas. Don't worry folks, I've regained my wonder. I'm not so smug these days.
On tour, Andrew had been playing the piano part on a Fender Rhodes but when we rolled in to MPR they had a gorgeous grand piano. Listen to how beautifully it rings out at the end. Incredible.

This album rocks all the way through. It's hard to pick a favorite song because they're all so damn catchy! I can't wait to hear what they do next! Beefarrito
